Annual Holiday Party

Our next Holiday Party is November 8th.  Hours are from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
We will be decorating the Christmas tree once again with home made ornaments.  If you would like to contribute to our tree, come join us.  Partners who can will be in 1830 period dress.
Hot ciders and home made cookies will be served.  Children will make holiday ornaments and Indian teepees.  See the flyer for more information.
The holiday season was celebrated by pioneers but we find very little written about
just how their homes were decorated in the early 1800's and especially if there was
a Christmas tree.  We know that if there were trees they would be very worried about
fires in the cabin...so each year the cabin lifestyle isMAddie puts the first ornament on the 2007 Holiday Tree
 celebrated in the visitor's center
with a tree with no lights of any kind, and primarily home made ornaments.

Members often wear period dress and offer our guests homemade apple cider, usually seasoned, and home- made treats. In 2007 we were pleased to have several guests drop in.  Among them a little lady who had the honor of placing the first ornament on our tree.
