Historical Information on the History of the Cragg Cabin recieved from Dick Hough.
Photographs and Cragg Cabin History has been received by the park October 8, 2008 from Dick Hough. The history was written by his grandmother Zula Randall Hough, also a local hoistorian. We hope to record this information and add photos to the cabin as to its many adventures.

Shirley Casper, a friend of Goose Lake Prairie, has donated a collection of books on plants, animals birds, and many other nature topics. This donation is extensive enough to be the basis for the new library to be housed in the Visitors Center. Plans are being made to maintain and develop this wonderful gift. Many thanks to a lady who enjoys nature, and with this gift is promoting an educational avenue for other aspiring naturalists.

Mounted Prairie Chicken (On Loan)
This mounted Prairie chicken is on loan to the Goose Lake Prairie Park from the Region 2 Office. It is hoped that the park will soon acquire a Prairie Chicken of our own.
Mounted Big Horned Owl - Feb 2008
The mounted Big Horned Owl, shown in the photo above, arrived at Goose Lake Prairie in the arms of Prairie Partner Andrea Kaluzny and members of the Coal City High School Science Club, February 25, 2008. The origin of this mounted specimen is one who’s history I am familiar with. Mark Cunnea of Coal City, found this bird. It had been shot. He tried to nurse it back to health. Failing to do so, he had the bird mounted and donated it to the Coal City High School where it has been housed for several years. Because of growing space concerns, the Science Club decided the bird could be shared with many people if it were housed at the Goose Lake Prairie Park.
