UTI started out as a Bulletin Board System (BBS) in 1990. Originally running on an Apple IIGS, the board proved popular in the local Morris area. In 1993, the system was refined and transferred to the IBM PC format and UTI expanded to include worldwide email service through phone line data uploads to the internet and satellite data downloads.

True internet service was begun on March 15, 1995 when UTI became Grundy County's first Internet Service Provider (ISP). We have grown from a modest four dial-in lines (1995) in Morris to several hundred dial-in lines now serving Ottawa, LaSalle-Peru, Morris, Joliet and all of Chicago. We offer 56K v.90 dial-up, ISDN (128K), web-hosting and co-location services. We have concentrated our marketing efforts to the I-80 corridor from Joliet to LaSalle-Peru and have maintained our ‘home town business’ atmosphere.

In May 1996 we moved our business to the Morris Business and Technology Center located at 1802 N. Division Street, Morris, Illinois. In June 2000, our customer and technical support office moved into our new offices in Suite 800 of the Morris Business and Technology Center. Our office hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.
