Mysteries And Imponderables

Just some things I wonder about.

Just saw some actual Britney Spears dolls at the toy store the other day.  And I'd say they're pretty accurate.  The breasts are plastic and the heads are hollow.

With Hugh Heffner dating both Bentley Twins, you gotta think the Barbi Twins are kicking themselves right about now.

This weekend at the mall, in the Sears store, there was a sign over the escalator that said, "Escalator down."  Not as in, "Need repair," as in the direction is was travelling in.  The other had a sign that said, "Escalator up."  Is this really such a difficult concept to grasp that people need signs explaining this to them?  (None of the other stores had them.)

According to Douglas Adams, a "budby" is a nipple visible through flimsy or wet clothing.  At one department store, I saw the mannequins had budbies.  Why?

Am I the only one who laughs when the announcers on Rollerjam and the Ms. Fitness shows act like they are covering REAL sports events?

If Annie Potts, who mastered her deadpan as Jenine Melnitz on Ghostbusters, and Ben Stein had a kid, would it sound like the lead singer of The Bloodhound Gang?

If tasting "a true Pilsner beer" is such a goddam big deal, why wasn't it advertised as such before Pilsner was sold?

Why doesn't anyone throw toga parties anymore?.

The Peter G Archive Of Knowledge:  Wyoming was the first state to elect a woman as Governor back in 1924.  The first Quaker President of the United States was Herbert Hoover.

I have seen The Iron Chef, and I have just one question:  WHAT THE FUH?!?

Whatever happened to Patsy Pease and Caren Kaye?

Burger King isn't giving away Poke-balls with the kids' meals anymore because two seperate adults left them with two seperate children who were below the age requirement for the toys and the kids choked to death.  Why do people insist on ruining my good time just because they can't take care of their kids?

How is it that The Rock and Mankind get book deals, and I'm still trying to get my foot in the door?

A television critic in Chicago once said the WWF and WCW wrestling are America's version of kabuki theater.  I second that motion.

Are Trey Parker and Matt Stone ever going to make another movie?

Why hasn't Dian Bachar appeared on South Park yet?  Toddy Walters appeared in the movie.

Mary Kay Bergman:  I don't know what drove you to do it, but I hope you have found some peace.  Rest well.

Guy at the video store:  Shannon Tweed appears nude in this.
Me:  Like I haven't seen that before.

Variations on a theme:
Take one step left and one step right,
One to the front, and one to the side.
Clap your hands once, clap your hands twice,
and if it looks like this, then you're doing it right.

No two people will do it the same
You got it down when you appear to be in pain.

I still don't get the ending to the movie The Black Hole.

I read how the studio that made American Beauty is complaining about bootlegs of the movie selling on the Internet, and how it ruins sales of the official releases.  I'll believe bootlegs are out of control when Suncoast, Blockbuster, and every other video renter and seller goes under and the guy on the street corner remains.  Also, why should I pay $20 for a bootleg video of a movie I can see for $5 at a matinee showing getting a clearer picture and clearer sound?  Besides, there might be women I can ask out at the movie theater.  Can't do that with a video, bootleg or otherwise.

Why do guys roll their eyes when their dates, girlfriends, wives, and/or sex objects say they want to go out to see a "chick flick"?  I love going out on dates and seeing chick flicks.  If you go to see Mission To Mars, you and your date are watching the screen.  If you go to see Return To Me, you get to snuggle.  Do the math.

The Peter G Box O' Knowledge:  Mark Snow, composer for The X-Files, also did the music for Starsky And Hutch.  Issac Hayes (Shaft, South Park) also did the music for The Rockford Files.

I'm still waiting for that Dr. Radium TV series.
